Erotic!

I’m happy to announce that my painting has made it through the jury competition process successfully and will be showing in the 13th annual Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. In addition to the juried painting I have been personally invited by the festival director to show additional selected artworks as well. I will show a few paintings not shown in previous festivals, and one of my favorite sculptures from years ago when I used to sculpt. The Seattle Erotic Arts Festival will be held near the Space Needle (Seattle Exhibition Center) again this April 23rd-25th. Plan on attending, and say hello to an Art Monster. I hope to see many of my local art friends and fans there. 🙂

Additionally, to get all sentimental. 😛 This is a good example of why I always say not to give up on your goals. This will be my fifth time showing my artwork in the festival (6th time if you count my being invited to show at last year’s Seduction Halloween party). The SEAF is one of the largest art festivals of it’s kind in the U.S. The first time, I showed sculptures there was at the 2nd or 3rd festival many years ago. Subsequently, my art entries were rejected three years in a row. :*( But, I didn’t lay down and simply complain, I tried once more in 2012 and not only was my single painting entry accepted, but (as of this writing) it remains the highest priced sold individual artwork in the festival’s history. 🙂 Some of my personal favorite paintings have sold there subsequently.

It’s important to note that I don’t make artwork marketed as erotic, with this or any other festival strictly in mind when I create it. I simply make what I see in my mind’s eye; sometimes it’s erotic, sometimes it’s monstrous… and sometimes it’s both. 😀

I mention all of this because, despite the many defeats an artist has (you’ll never hear about all of those unless I tell you… 🙂 ) I refuse to sit around and complain while drowning myself in rum and wasting my life away, if you want something in life, then you must work towards it and earn it. Stand or fall upon your merit. And still, there are no guarantees. That is part of my philosophy of Man as Heroic. Now, enough of that mushy stuff. The Art Monster must keep busy. 😛
